As you might know if you read last week’s weekly happy post we had ventured up to Scotland to see my parents and get some time out. I’d had a really rough week with the lack of routine and overdoing it at the park. We’re now back home and fully rejuvenated, and a bit less harassed mum. We’re back in routine and had a relaxing few days which was ace. So here are my happy list thought from the week:
1. Family
We hadn’t seen my parents since the start of December and it just seems such a long time with all the changes that H has had – she funnier and talking so so sooooo much. I also hadn’t seen my sister who’s a bit unwell since August as she’s been working away and is now home awaiting NHS appointments. And similarly I last saw my granny in August and if I didn’t get up soon we wouldn’t be up until after baby is born. So we had a really lovely time seeing everyone.
There was lots of food, H drawing and showing everyone her toys, scooting, soft play, coffees and lunches and even a late Christmas dinner!
2. Oldest friends
I met my oldest friend for coffee just the two of us while H played with granny and papa. It was a really lovely catch up and I wish we could do it more often. It is lovely how we always just pick up from where we left off 😀
I also met one of my other oldest friend’s new baby, who is now 4 months old. That time has flown by, and it was absolutely lovely to see them and meet their little cutie. We really missed the time they were away, and I hope we can meet up far more regularly. We had a really lovely time and hopefully next time will have a lot longer to spend catching up.
3. Pizza
Last Saturday my sister and I had an afternoon to ourselves, shopping and having lunch. It was lovely and I don’t remember the last time we did it. It must be before H was born, a good few years anyway. Our pizzas were delicious, I wish they had Di Maggios down here!
4. Car journey
I’ve started writing a post on toddler car journey tips. I couldn’t believe how well behave H was. The drive was easy! She was very happy as long as she didn’t need the toilet… In which case she got quite upset – a downside to taking a long trip when you’ve been potty training!
5. Routine
We’ve been back to our normal routine this week, swimming, playgroup and music. H has loved seeing her friends and also playing in the park with them before Storm Doris set in. I’ve enjoyed it too. We also finished off our park afternoon with Waitrose coffee and Bear Claws… #happymummy!
5. Baby kicks
I’m now 25 weeks pregnant and since my 24 week pregnancy update, baby’s kicks are getting much stronger. They seem to be at the karate kick make-my-entire-stomach-move stage already. And I occasionally get that funny shelf on one side, under my rib cage where baby has wedged herself. I’d forgotten about that, so its lovely remembering these moments I had with H as well.
6. Maternity clothes
I bought a few new bits when I was in Scotland – it’s so much easier to shop with two of us to referee H. That’s another thing if love to do more often, meet my mum for coffee or a browse of the shops. I also posted a few maternity clothes bargains from Love The Sales this week. I now feel I have enough clothes to not be washing every two days!
7. Baby and toddler clothes
I also picked up a few bits in Sainsburys half price sale racks for baby and also Toddler H. You really can’t go wrong with these and they’re just so cute.
8. Spring flowers
I’m loving the emerging daffodils, the snowdrops and the tulips starting to appear. Soon we’ll we awash with colour. Don’t get me wrong I love winter and real snow, but we’ve not had any really this year, which is a shame Toddler H won’t get those same snow experiences I remember growing up. So lovely flowers definitely make me more cheerful!
9. Pancake practice
I was craving pancakes so thought I should have a practice run on Thursday night ready for pancake day on Tuesday. I tried a new egg free recipe as we didn’t have any eggs and I’ll be using that in future. It was so easy and I’m sure healthier, until I added half a jar of Nutella, sugar and lemon, and jam!
10. Hubby
Again for being so understanding and amazing. For tiling around the radiators while we were gone, for taking down H’s old cot, for getting milk and bread and pizza in for the day we got back, and everything else. We were both so excited to see him when we got back – H was very excited to be home and daddy home too!
That’s my lovely week, lots of happy moments. Hope you had a lovely week too,
Lynne x
