We recently went on holiday to Menorca, our first holiday abroad as a family of three. As well as being nervous beforehand of the flight, I was paranoid about having decent sun cream for Toddler H. I stuck with our safe option, Boots Soltan, a brand that we used on H last summer too. I also once had a reaction to Superdrug’s own brand sun cream, and so prefer to stick to what we know and use year after year. So off I popped to Boots to pick up our holiday essentials… sun cream, nail polish, Savlon, plasters etc etc. Anyway, I expected to just pick up some kids sun cream in factor 50. I did not expect to stumble across a brilliant product.
Both kids creams I bought come in a range of factors 30, 50 and 50+. I bought 50+ to get the maximum available.
They are both also hypoallergenic, non-pore blocking, include a patented antioxidant complex to help protect against long-term skin damage, as well as being dermatologist approved. That all sounds brilliant, but here is the best bit:
Soltan Once Kids Water Play Sun Cream?
3 hours water resistance, 6 hours sun protection!
Yes, you read that right, this sun cream protects for up to 6 hours of sun exposure and 3 hours of water exposure (there are instructions for this, if spend more time reapply, and if the instructions are followed)
H’s suntan cream is a fantastic factor 50+, it’s also protective for 6 hours in the sun and 3 hours of water play!!! A-MAZING!
The cream is REALLY thick and feels like it’ll just stick and last.
Soltan Once Kids 8 Hours Play Sun Cream?
8 hours playing, 1 hour of water play
Yes I splashed out on two bottles (it was buy one get one half price), this one is for 8 hours playing and 1 hour of water play. This sounds fantastic for days at home when we’re in and out, perhaps playing in the paddling pool or with the sand and water table. I also found this really thick and easy to apply.
We used both creams on holiday, and yes we did apply more often than the hours required, but that was just paranoia. H didn’t turn any shade of red, pink or brown. She was perfectly protected in her ‘special cream’ as we called it. It was a game before we went out each day. Such a fun game that she’d run to us when we said it was ‘special cream’ time, she also loved helping rub her cream in.
I thoroughly recommend Boots Soltan Once, I really think, in my opinion it is the best for children, both for toddlers, kids, and also their adult ranges. Hubby and I have used their adult creams for years and always find the coverage and their hypoallergenic claims bang on. If we burn it’s been our own fault (oh and my fair skin!).
Soltan also has sensitive ranges and quick dry ranges. Find out more about Boots Soltan on the Boots website.
Have you tried Soltan? Do you recommend it?

June 22, 2016 at 1:54 pmI like the Avon range of suncream. I think the water resistant one is a great idea though, especially for kids because they are in and out of the water so much

June 28, 2016 at 5:28 amWe use Soltan too as just as good as the brand names but cheaper. They’re not greasy either which is good as nothing worse! Thanks for hosting #thebabyformula

June 28, 2016 at 7:25 amCompletely agree! This is the only sun cream we use, always have! My kids all have sensitive skin, the youngest had horrific eczema when he was a baby and this cream didn’t aggravate him at all. Thanks for hosting #TheBabyFormula

June 28, 2016 at 4:48 pmI have not tried using Soltan, we always end up buying Nivea sun cream range. It’s great to know the good things about this sun cream, I could give it a try next time we need one. #TheBabyFormula
