Week 2 of my happy list. A list where I look back at this week and remember the good times…
1. Scooting at Westonbirt
We hadn’t been to Westonbirt Arboretum before, and it was so much fun. H just LOVED scooting around on her new scooter (and daddy making her “go fast”). Westonbirt is perfect for toddlers – loads of safe space to run around, and good paths for scooters and bikes. We actually now call it Westonbirt “scooter park” ?
2. Me time
Hubby took H for a walk on Sunday so I had a very quick hoover and then sat down exhausted. It was my only me time all week, and it was very much needed. I was shattered after entertaining H so much because classes were all off.
3. Routine
I was so relieved to be back in our routine and back to classes. We do something every morning, from swimming to playgroups, I do try to exhaust her, and be out the door early. It’s also become very apparent that toddlers NEED routine… in saying that so do I!
In the afternoons, we have some down time after lunch and then do something active, such as go out on her scooter, for a walk, shopping with lots of walking or the park (or soft play).
4. First snow Friday
Everyone loves Friday don’t they! We woke up to a dusting of snow, H loved it. She’d never seen snow before and kept saying “LOTS of snow mummy”, she was adorable.
I won’t mention her screams and tantrums on our way home from class, or the fact it took much longer than double our usual walk to get home. Why? Because “snow gone”… Oooops I might have forgotten to explain it wouldn’t stay!
5. Accepting coffee is the way forward
I’m now 19 weeks pregnant and starting to wake a lot at night with sore hips and back. It’s amazing how I’d blocked the extent of that searing pain out. Before the pain came back waking me, I had been getting more and more shattered again with chasing Toddler H all day. I realised I needed to take some caffeine or a bottle of cola. I’ve had something caffeinated after lunch each day this week and it’s made a huge difference. I just needed something, among my decaf tea and squash. So far it’s helping massively and I know I’m still way under the recommended limit.
6. Games night – Monopoly
Hubby and I often talk about having board games night every week. Well this week we did! We played the new Ultimate Banking Monopoly… It’s gone all high tech, with bank cards, a card reader and QR codes for scanning the properties you buy. It even does all the money, so no counting and recounting! (Review coming next week)
7. Tots100 surprises
I was flabbergasted to see my Tots100 ranking this month enter the top 200, at 189. I know I had a good December, but, well, that’s a brilliant way to start the year.
8. Planning & organising
I’ve been slowly filling in my new planner for the year. I love how my new Stick to Stigu planner is so practical and love it’s colours (win a planner in my giveaway!). I feel much more organised, with its really easy to see layouts, and space for to-do lists and notes. It’s definitely perfect for the busy mum or blogger.
How was your week? Have you tried the new Ultimate Banking Edition Monopoly?

January 14, 2017 at 10:30 amHi, I love the snow as a grown up but it was great to hear children out in their gardens playing in the snow in the dark. I must get this monopoly it might help reduce those banker arguments, maybe… Chloe https://pinkiebag.com/ #HappyDaysLinky

January 15, 2017 at 10:37 pmHa ha, my little one had a similar reaction to the snow too bless her. My son got Star Wars Monopoly for Christmas and he loves it, a lot quicker than the original too which always helps. Well done on your tots ranking, that’s definitely a great way to start the year!

January 19, 2017 at 1:48 pmWhat a lovely list of things to be positive about (except the ‘snow gone’ of course, but hopefully there will be more!). Congratulations on your Tots ranking, such a big achievement! Thanks also for the games night inspiration, it’s something we must try and get into. #TheListLinky
