This was a hard week, you know one where it’s seems fine and then it just hits the fan. It was half term which is always hard with a toddler as all our usual classes and routines are out the window. But I’ve managed to find lots of happy moments and things and people I’m thankful for…
1. Us time
Hubby and I had a lovely early valentines lunch on Sunday, just the two of us. A very rare occurrence, and we enjoyed sitting very slowly eating our three courses without juggling toddler activities and food too.
2. Park
We had a lovely morning at the park in Cheltenham with friends. H had a ball and was a much better age for the toddler equipment than last time we went. She was shattered as we left, they all said so, but did she nap afterwards? No. She needed to and just didn’t. She was miserable and after two hours of half term park craziness so was I.
3. Flowers and fizz
Yes my valentines presents from hubby. I love them!
4. Coffee
We met our friend and her 7 month old for coffee of Wednesday, again H struggled all day, still needing to catch up on her exhaustion from the park the day before. She kept saying I lie down now, close my eyes. My eye is sleepy. I was exhausted and didn’t know what to do, driving around in the car, hoping for a car nap, she’d say she wanted to lie in her bed and close eyes.
5. Family
I’d been planning to come to Scotland to visit my family next week, but plans suddenly changed and I headed up this week. I must say it’s been lovely. It’s been just over 2 months since we saw them at the start of December, and we’re having a lovely time. H has changed so much, more sentences, words and her funny little things she says. She’s keeping us all amused, and I’m getting some much needed down time too. And coffee with my mum (and H) is something I wish I could do much more often.
6. Friends
A few friends and I have a group messenger chat set up. We really vent and tell eachother everything, the support of these ladies is amazing, and I don’t know what I’d do without it. Thank you ladies if you’re reading!
7. H&M
I wanted another couple of maternity tops and had seen some in H&M, so popped there wi my mum and Toddler H. I was super shocked to get 20% off when we came to pay as they have a promotion on this weekend that if you buy 3 or more items you get 20% off! That definitely made me happy!
8. Toddler H’s new slippers
She makes them kiss too! I need to get it on video but when I do, I’ll definitely upload it here and instagram… She so funny!
9. Scooting
Yes, the scooter came to Scotland, and she actually had a screaming fit on the way as she thought we didn’t have it. I’m not sure if she was actually screaming because she wanted to scoot to Scotland as she was bored of the car! At one point she said ‘walk to granny house now please?’ Never the less, she has been very pleased to show it to granny and papa who hadn’t seen it before.
10. Hubby
I have to mention hubby again, thank you for being ok with us heading to Scotland just like that, thank you for understanding and all your support. Sometimes a girl just needs to see her mum and sister.
11. New potty!
I’ve mention our potty training … Post coming this week, but we received this face 3 stage potty from Summer Infant this week. How fab is this?! H loves her “pink toilet”! As you can see she was really excited for me to open it, and actually took it out the box herself and then promptly as soon as I took the seat out of the plastic, sat on it and did the toilet!
12. Square sausage and Scottish home comforts
I’ve enjoyed a square sausage roll, and am looking forward to a good chippy, potato scones and some local Tunnock tea cakes this weekend.
That’s my happy this week, a rubbish hard week with lots of things and people I’m thankful for. I’m so glad I made this list, the week really wasn’t as hard as a I though, just a couple of hard days.
If you do have two minutes check out my post on the fab initiative from JoJo Maman Bebe for sending outfits to children in need in the UK and to Syrian refugees in Lebanon. If you donate two outfits they’ll also give you a £5 voucher off a £35 spend!
