Reviewing these bowls came about through my little trip to Boots today. I went to buy a few Ella’s Kitchen pouches, spotted these and thought, they’re worth a try. H loves baby led weaning (BLW) now, but is also quite into trying to use a spoon and bowl. Whenever I let her have the bowl, she immediately turns it upside down, sending the contents ubruptly over herself/the highchair/the floor/me/the table… She also likes trying to use a spoon (ok playing with it/whacking it across the bowl), this usually results in flying off the highchair across the room. If there was actually food in the bowl, it could be anywhere. Most likely in her hair, up her nose, between her toes. Really, the only option after any self feeding, especially feeding herself a bowl of porridge, was to get in the bath. Oh and for me to wear old clothes.
So tonight we tried these bowls from Nuby. They were ?5.99 in Boots. So a really good price, and come with tight lids too, perfect for taking out and about!
1. How do they work? They have a big sucker on the bottom, which worked fabulously on our highchair.
2. Did they work? Yes! H tried and tried to pull it off, but couldn’t.
3. Did the bowl serve it’s purpose? Instead of throwing the bowl, she resorted to actually eating the food… RESULT!!
She was very cute peering into her bowl (her highchair table is a bit too high, it’s not the best design, read about it here).
Verdict: 10/10 All in all, she sat eating her sandwiches, as well as her strawberries, celery, and banana for almost half an hour. The bowl didn’t move once, and she actually ate loads. She loved it, and hardly any ended up on the floor! I definitely recommend these.

October 15, 2015 at 2:50 amSounds fab! The ones we tried became a personal test of strength for our baby. He did originally rip it up and chuck food all over himself in the process. Sigh.

October 17, 2015 at 1:08 pmThese sound great! I have the Tomee Tippee mat which the bowls stick to, but Taylor has managed to pull it off a few times – it’a like she sees it as a challenge so concentrates on that than on eating the food! These look ideal and much better so I might give them a go xx

October 25, 2015 at 12:16 pmThey are really good, and very hand for when out, but she has now managed to get them off a few times. Sometimes it’s her challenge, but other times, she quite happy just rummaging around to see all the different foods in there 🙂 but definitely worth a try x

October 20, 2015 at 1:35 pmWe have these. They are a fabulous idea and were great for a few meal times, but either my little one got stronger or the suction cups stopped working because now the bowls and food still end up on the floor.
I’ve come to the conclusion that weaning is just a messy process ?.

October 25, 2015 at 12:14 pmYes, it didn’t take her long to get it off, but it definitely helps! And if there is lots of different foods in the bowl it sometimes distracts her a bit more 🙂
