I love crafting, making things, bunting, cards, sewing pouches for this and that, you name it I’ve thought about it or tried it. I went through a stage of getting REALLY into card making, then as part of my ‘prepare for baby’s birth’ I started crocheting a blanket…. and ?I never finished it. It’s bugged me for the last almost-15-months.
Recently I’ve seen photos pop up on my Facebook timeline of a lovely friend’s crocheting each week, and it’s niggling me even more. I love blogging, reading, commenting, the community and I don’t want to miss out; but, I need to turn off, I need to craft. So now, it’s 3am, I’ve just moved H down her cot as she moved off her alarm pad causing the alarm to go off -yes, we still use it even though she’s almost 15 months, another habit that we’ve not managed to break!- and, I’ve just seen some gorgeous crochet squares my friend made tonight on Facebook. So now I’m awake thinking, I need to feed my crafting itch, I need a kick to actually do crafting. I’d organise some friends together to do it, but it can be awkward with hubby’s working late, etc etc. in saying that, I might test the waters and see if I can organise something that way too. But on to my 3am idea…
A twitter/Instagram craft party once a week…?
I’m thinking:
1. Thursday Craft night
We all have a night off from blogging! Ok it can be an hour, or just half an hour. Really it’s just a bit of time to yourself an knit a few lines, or get friends together each week to do something crafty together.
I propose a Thursday night each week.?
2. One night of less blogging more crafting?
Do a craft, make something -a card, draw a picture, do one of these new colouring in books for adults, crochet a line or a square, do a bit of knitting, sew a something-or-other.
I’ll tweet and Facebook a few reminders so we have that much needed kick that it’s craft night!?
3. Weekly progress share?
Ok this also counts as a weekly come on let’s actually ‘do crafting’ kick, opposed to sit and see another week go by without using my new sewing machine.
My thoughts at the moment are…
If we all post a picture of our crafting each Thursday or Friday ?(yes, a whole night off!) on:
- Twitter, I’ll RT them, or
- ?Instagram I’ll like them
- I’m now wondering about Pinterest and Facebook, but will think about those at a sane hour not 3am!
Just post a picture and use the hashtag #CraftNight and tag me too!
You don’t have to write a blog post, but can if you want, I’m thinking I’ll do a picture with a quick sentence in my progress… ?Or, just include it in your weekly round up. Sorry, I won’t promise to comment in all blog posts, but will RT and like shared picture and links (and potentially will do this each friday, not thursday, otherwise I won’t end up crafting!)
4. Monthly #CraftNight linky
Once a month link up your progress to my #craftnight linky -open the last day of every month for 1 week (so 30/31st-6th of each month). I will comment on all of these, and ask you comment on some too.
5. Revel in your craftiness
Rejoice at your new makes and see your new hobbies come to life with the encouragement of the community… Please share the ooooops moments too, the I sewed this the wrong way, I lovingly spent an hour making a card on the wrong side of the fold…, I had to undo all my knitting moments too, because, we’re all learning, and can really do with all the tips we can get!!
What do you think? Will anyone join me??Or, will I actually have to round up a few non-blogging friends to get together each week?
What do you think, if I start this next week will anyone join me?
Please tell me my 3am idea is reasonably sane? ?
Lynne x

February 27, 2016 at 10:23 pmThis sounds like a great idea! Sometimes the best ideas comes at the strangest times. I write some of my best stories at midnight when ideas pop into my head just as I’m falling asleep! I would join in but I don’t have a remotely crafty bone in my body! #KCACOLS

A Moment with Franca
February 28, 2016 at 11:56 pmI’m not very good at crafting!! I think if I follow some instructions I might be able to do something but I’m not the one who will create something from the scratch and have a great imagination! So not sure how much I can share!! lol But if I manage to do something of course I will join you. I’m sure you won’t be alone as there must be lots of great crafty people out there! Good luck with this new idea! Thanks so much for sharing this at #KCACOLS. I would love to see you again on Sunday! 🙂 x
PS: I can’t see my badge for this week, 🙁

Mama, My Kid Doesn't Poop Rainbows
February 29, 2016 at 8:51 amSounds like a plan. I go through phases of being crafty but am not really feeling it just now. I started to loom weave a baby blanket that never got finished. Best of luck x

March 2, 2016 at 10:42 amI’m so in! I’ve been cross stitching a Christmas scene for about 5 years on and off, honest to god, 5 years, in fact it might be more. I get easily distracted!! I shall see you Thursday with my needle and thread and a glass of wine, wine is allowed, right? #CraftNight #TheBabyFormula

March 3, 2016 at 10:10 amThis is a great idea! I just wish I was craftier – my mum is great at everything from painting to scrapbooking, but I seem to have missed out on the artsy gene. That and I don’t really have enough patience to stick to an art project. I might be able to handle one of those colouring books for adults, though. 🙂 #coolmumclub

As you know I am not only #coolmumclub host but also crochet extraordinaire…NOT! I have restarted a blanket for my friends baby and I need to get my fingers away from the keyboard and onto the blanket if it’s going to be finished in time! Thursdays not a great day for me but you could def inspire me to join your linky with a blanket progress post 😉
