This is my third week joining the #HappyDays linky by Katy from What Katy Said and Sian from Quite Frankly She Said. I’ll aim to do this quick list each week of the things that have made me happy, keep track of time flying by and what we’ve been up to.
So, what made mummy happy this week?
A record number of views!
I wrote an open letter to the council last Sunday as so many friends were complaining of rubbish at the new ?500,000 Pittville park, along with reports of a used tampon being found in the sand pit along with broken glass and a toddler slide that’s just unsuitable for young toddlers. Anyway, the Gloucestershire Echo featured my letter and it got a few shares for other parents too. Please have a read and share it as I don’t think the council think there is anything wrong with any of it!!
Painting
I did painting with H this week which she LOVED! We were using finger paints which seem to be very thick, and well H is new to painting, so she doesn’t quite understand that the paper doesn’t have to swim in paint. It’s taken 3 days to dry!
Passive Gardening
With all this rain we haven’t been in the garden, but I did quickly plant a new tomato and strawberry plant (I’m trying to get a range of ages of plants so we have fruit throughout summer). All these thunder storms have ensured they’re watered! Meanwhile I sit with a cup of tea planning what flowers and shrubs will go where ?
Swimming
H does a baby swim class with Waterbabies and this week she spend the whole time squealing, kicking, and just being a fab wee swimmer! After last week’s mummy hugs, it seems she’s back to loving it on a whole new level.
Baby Group
We tried a new play group this week which was brilliant. I also had a lovely chat with another mummy and we even got a cup of tea and biscuit while the little ones had their snacks. It was so cute seeing them sat at the table munching away. Tea has actually featured quite highly in my week’s activities, what with all this rain keeping us confined indoors.
Film night
Hubby and I managed to watch a film one night, which is unheard of. We haven’t managed in ages as we seem to get bored or tired. It’s actually been quite a trying week for bedtimes as H hasn’t been in. Bed by 7.30 as usual. Well, she has, but she’s back up 20 minutes later and we don’t seem to get her back to bed until 9.30/10ish, which is a big change in routine for us…. we really feel like we’ve earned our glass of wine when she finally goes to bed. On Saturday we treated ourselves to a bottle of fizzy that’s been sitting waiting for us to open.
We’re hoping this ‘I don’t need sleep thing’ is a phase! In saying that she’s teething again so screaming quite a bit throughout the evening with that too.
So that’s it, my third #HappyDays post. And, I can tell you, it worked. I’m sat smiling at all these lovely memories, lovely people and my family.

June 26, 2016 at 7:56 pmOh gosh don’t get me started on weeds. They just spring up to toddler height in a week, I’m sure it rains weed-grower, I just wish it was weed-killer 🙂
